April primarily practices in insurance defence litigation, with a focus on motor vehicle accident tort and statutory accident benefit disputes. She particularly enjoys the complexity and fast-paced nature of accident benefit disputes.

April earned her Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Ottawa in 2010 where she specialized in Criminology and minored in Political Science. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University in 2018, finishing on the Dean’s List. She was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2019 and returned to Flaherty McCarthy LLP as an associate shortly after.

As part of her legal education, April was required to complete the Integrated Practice Curriculum at Lakehead University, which focusses on the theory and practice of law. In her third year, as part of the IPC, April completed a four month placement with the Crown Attorney’s Office. After graduating from law school, she completed her articling term with a boutique employment law, and civil and commercial litigation firm in Toronto.
